A look at how Jayden Daniels fared in the Commanders week 6 loss to the Ravens
The Good
Facing a strong and disciplined Ravens pass rush, Jayden threw for a career high 269 yards on 24 of 35 attempts and a pair of touchdowns to Terry McLaurin. His 11 incompletions included several throw aways and a few early drops by Olamide Zaccheus.
For the most part, Daniels was on target with his throws and he continues to make progress at moving his defenders with his eyes, as he did on the first touchdown pass to McLaurin.
Jayden was turnover free today, with an overthrown third down heave to Noah Brown that was nearly picked being his only errant throw of the day.
The Not So Good
Like the Browns last week, Baltimore came into the game determined to limit Jayden’s running. Unlike the Browns last week, Baltimore succeeded. The Ravens held Daniels to 22 yards on 6 carries.
The normally insufferable Tony Romo made a good point on the broadcast: Jayden never throws when he scrambles to his left. He has fixed almost all of his perceived flaws to this point, so that is something that bears watching as the season progresses.
The Verdict
Despite his legs being held in check, Jayden was still effective in the passing game. That is a great sign of things to come, because someday he might get some help from his defense. When that happens, look out.
Great job
