A look at how Jayden Daniels played in the Commanders week 4 drubbing of the Arizona Cardinals
The good
As the Commanders cruised in a blowout this week, Jayden settled nicely into a game manager role. That isn’t an insult. Daniels showed an impressive command of the offense, taking what was there and moving the chains, while sprinkling in deep shots. The Cardinals defense threw a lot of different looks and blitzes at him and he didn’t look surprised by any of it.
He once again showed great decision making and accuracy, completing 26 of 30 passes for 233 yards, one touchdown and one interception (more on that later).
The biggest improvement in his game has been in his ability to manipulate the pocket and keep his eyes downfield when he gets moved off his spot. As talented a runner as he is, a quarterback makes his money through the air and Jayden has been doing just that over the past few games.
Still, his legs are a weapon and he has become much better at protecting himself while using them. He didn’t take any hits this week, while picking up 47 yards on the ground, and even executed a textbook slide in the third quarter.
This was Jayden’s best game to date and, with the team sitting at 3-1 and atop of the NFC East, it is getting difficult to “stay medium” about the remainder of this season.
The not so good
Jayden showed he is human after all with a second quarter interception on a misplaced ball to Terry McLaurin.
That’s it. That’s all I have for this week. Jayden Daniels was otherwise phenomenal in week 4.
The verdict
It’s a long season and there will certainly be tougher tests than this week, but Jayden Daniels looks like he’s up to the challenge.
Get your popcorn ready.
